The First Post Of The New Year

Well it's been a while since I've been here but I find myself coming back time and again to want to write down and share the things that happen in my life, even if no one is really reading them.  It lets me know that the struggles and joys that I have can both continue and change and that is helpful for me.  While I may not post all that regularly I do want to keep it up and hopefully become more consistent.

This last weekend was an exciting one for us as a family.  Bear had her birthday last week and as part of her present she requested that we go to a hotel with a pool and have a fun time.  We took ourselves out to a local hotel here in town and we got busy doing our things.  Once we checked in we then ran out to grab something to eat as it was close to supper time.  We brought that back to the hotel and ate quickly then got ready for our booked time in the pool.  We had a great time splashing about and going down the waterslide.  Once our time was up there we went back to the hotel room and the girls had showers and got all the chlorine off.  It was getting close to bedtime so the girls got ready and watched some TV until that time.  Bedtime definitely took a lot longer with all the excitement but they eventually got to sleep.  Hubs watched hockey and I had a bath and watched some shows on my tablet.  Then we also climbed into bed and had as restful of a night as we could with littles in the bed and us actually sharing a room.  In the morning, we got up and went for breakfast to Cora's, which is right in the parking lot of the hotel.  That was very good and everyone had more than enough to eat.  We tried to get another swim in the pool but it was all booked up so we just went and packed up the room and then got on our way.  We did stop at Value Village on the way home to lessen the disappointment of not getting that second swim in and the girls found a few things.

The rest of the weekend was spend staying fairly close to home as it's very cold here.  We are sitting at -46 with the wind right now and that's about as warm as it's going to get today.  I did have to run out to get groceries but that was only an hour and I was happy to get back home and into the house.

Work has been crazy.  I am not getting any further ahead and there are just millions of questions and meetings and three different projects on the go so I keep fumbling along.  I am still feeling like I'm not getting the support I need but I don't know what to do about it.  I don't want to complain and have people think that I'm not capable but I also don't want to let things slide and then get into trouble for not completing a job.

Today the kids are home from school as it's a Teacher Development day so they have been playing while I work.  Right now all is quiet as they are on the computer and tablet so I have an hour where there will be no noise or requests for food. :)

Stay warm and safe everyone!
