Week Of July 3rd

Sunday was a day of getting groceries and then hanging out with the family, well at least those that were home.  Bug didn't get dropped off from her camping trip until around 7pm so it was just the Hubs, Bear, and I.  Bear and I got groceries and then it was time for a weeny roast, our first of the year and the thing that Bear has been looking forward to the most for the last week.  There was a bit of drama in getting the wood box open as the lock had shifted and it's made quite solid so no one can break into it but Hubs got that sorted and soon we had a fire.  Hot dogs and marshmallows were roasted and devoured.  Then some time was spent in the pool by all at different times.  It was a beautiful day and it felt nice to cool off in water that wasn't totally freezing.  Hubs had hockey in the evening, which is unusual for a long weekend but there was enough interest from his team and so off they went.  I got the girls settled and watched some of my shows until Hubs got home and then we watched the rest of WWE Biography: Mick Foley.  It was interesting and I learned a few things about him that I hadn't know.  I ended up not being able to sleep very well and had a restless night of flopping about and then getting onto my phone to tire myself out.  Thankfully I was able to get a few hours of sleep but I think it will be an early night tonight.

Monday was back to work and I wasn't too bad with it.  I was very tired as I'd slept very little and poorly in the bit I did sleep.  Of course it was the first real day the girls were home together since school let out and the usual fighting and yelling and being bored already were evident.  It's hard to keep them entertained when I am working and visible to them to bother.  I didn't leave the house yesterday at all.  I think the furthest outside I even went was to the BBQ for supper cooking, and that is three steps out the back door.  In the evening, there was nothing happening either.  Got the kids ready for bed and then vegged on the couch till it was time to take myself to bed.  Quite a boring day overall.

Tuesday must have a been a boring day as I can't remember what I did.  Obviously there was work and it was my one year anniversary of my not so new anymore job.  It's hard to believe it's been that long and yet there are days when it feels like it's been forever.  Other than that it was just a regular day.  The kids were fighting with each other half the time and playing nicely the other half.  Hubs came home early from work with a migraine. Really nothing else went on that was of any interest.

Maybe this Week

Well I failed miserably to get through a week of posting, even though I was home and not working.  Now it's Tuesday and I'm back at work so we'll see how this week goes, though I have low hopes :)

On Monday I was back at the school for another field trip.  It was with Bear's class this time, though it was to the same place, the Forestry Farm.  However, it was switched up a bit as we hit the playground first, had lunch after playing for an hour and then went to see the animals.  It was also different this time in that one of the other Mom's on the trip works at the zoo so she knows all the animals names and all sorts of facts about them and they know her voice so we saw many more than we'd have just walking around ourselves as they came to her or at least looked out of the dens to see her.  I was glad we started walking around though as sitting in the sun watching the kids play on the park had me ready for a nap, so warm in the sun.  After that and the bus ride back to school, it was just home and I had that nap till it was time to make supper.  The evening was spent watching TV, having a shower, and taking myself to bed fairly early with no reading or anything, just laying down and being asleep in minutes.  All that sun and walking wore me right out.

Tuesday was back to work, for the shortest week I've had in a while.  The morning went quickly as I tried to find my way out of all the emails that accumulated while I was off.  I then had a physio appointment to help with my tennis elbow.  It's been getting better since the last time but I also have been more conscious of it and not using it as much to lift or grip.  On the way home I stopped at Tim's and ended up in a Pay it Forward line so that was nice, by purchasing the guy behind's order it was cheaper than mine but I'd have paid it even if it was more.  It's a nice thing to do and I rarely find myself in one and of course never think to start one.  A big block of meetings followed that, plus more of the emails, and then I got lucky and was able to score two tickets to Weird Al from one of our suppliers.  I'm so excited, I was going to go alone but they said I could bring a plus one so Hubs gets to come too!  That was really the only excitement of the day.  In the evening we didn't do much, watched some Jersey Shore, because we are classy like that, and then I read a bit and went to bed.

Wednesday was the last day of school for the girls.  They really had no plans to do anything at school and most of their things were brought home yesterday so it was an easy day planned.  I went and got them a bagel from Tim's for breakfast and then off they went.  I had to work all day and it went by fairly quickly, minus the last hour.  Once I'd run to pick up the girls and cheer for the grad 8's that were graduating, I just couldn't get back into the spirit of working and really struggled to keep at it.  We then went out for supper to celebrate the last day of school and enjoyed that.  Evening was letting the kids run wild for a few hours before bed and then watching a little bit of TV with Hubs.  I had a shower and then tried to read but was exhausted and just crashed.  I had banned the children from my room last night and managed to have a great sleep, though of course I could easily crawl back into bed at any time.

Friday was the holiday here in Canada and it was a good day.  We only have Bear at home as Bug went camping with a friend for the weekend so we made it as exciting as we could.  Hubs and Bear went for a walk down by the river and on the campus, which is apparently overrun with gophers.  They then went to Value Village for a quick mosey around.  Once they got home I loaded all the stuff to take to VV and we went back to the one on the other side of the city. We bought almost nothing, just a couple of bunny hugs for Bear and then we hit up the grocery store for lunch fixings and came back home.  We then spent some time in the pool and I had a nap in the sun so I'm a little redder than I should be.  Not too much else happened during the day but it was a good day and some nice time with Bear.  Fireworks were set off by the neighbours later and they were quite impressive so Marshmallow and I watched those for a little bit before bed.

Week of Holidays

Well hello again, it's been a while!  I just haven't had the time to stick with this and get posts out as work has been bonkers.  I figured since I'm off on vacation this week maybe there would be some free time to make it happen but, no promises :)

Sunday was Father's Day and while there is not a big deal made of it the children gave Hubs his gifts, which he seemed to appreciate, and cards of course.  We then had Bear's First Communion Mass to go to, so that took up most of the morning.  It was lovely and there were about 20 children in this mass.  In total between three mass's on the weekend there were over 50 children who celebrated the Sacrament.  Bear looked lovely and was very happy, even if the dress was Bug's first.  I sometimes feel for Bear as many of the things she wears were worn by her sister first but she never complains.  I think that it helps that we always shop second-hand anyways so it's not a new concept to wear something that was used.  After mass Bug and I went for groceries and our time together.  It was a good outing and we laughed about the upcoming field trip I will be volunteering on.  She had forgotten I was coming and was very excited about it until she remembered.  I know that while it's embarrassing now that Mom comes on these things, in the future she will remember and be happy to have had me there.  Besides this, I like to make them a little uncomfortable, it's good for them.  We then came home and made a special request for spaghetti sauce for Hubs as his meal.  We played a board game after and tossed the ball around the backyard.  After supper, the girls and I went to watch Hubs play hockey for a while.  It's another thing that only happens on special occasions as I can't be bothered to go sit in the rink to watch old men chase each other around.

Monday started off with me thinking I was going to be grumpy as Hubs decided he was also taking the day off.  I book my holidays so I can have time alone and the first day I'm supposed to be enjoying them, he tries to ruin it with that news.  Thankfully we managed to have a nice day together and not have me be snappy at him and wish him away.  We started off the day going to get a new rug for the doorway and then decided that we should go see a movie since we rarely get time to ourselves without the kids.  We ended up seeing \Top Gun: Maverick and it was amazing.  I'd heard only good things about it but you never really know and then it really was good.  I enjoyed it and all the throwbacks to the original immencely.  While we were in the theatre we could hear the rain absolutley pouring down outside.  Turns out there was flash flooding all over the East side of the city.  Thankfully we're on the W|est side and didn't get nearly as much rain.  Nothing much else happened the rest of the day, we ate supper and got the kids to bed and headed there ourselves a little while later.

Week Of 2 January 2022

Hello All and welcome back in this new year.  It's been a while since I've been here and it's not for a lack of things that have been happening but just a lack of the time to get into here and write things down.

Sunday was a bit of a run around day.  Bug and I went to get groceries and then we also had to go get fabric and notions for her first sewing lessons.  It took a little while to get the choices narrowed down but in the end we picked out some choices and got her all set for Wednesday.  Then we came back home and I went to the gym for my regular walk.  I had taken a bit of a hiatus as Christmas took precedence but I know that I need to get my butt in gear.  I did my normal walk time but added a slight incline to burn a few more calories.  Then in the evening Hubs had hockey so I watched a bit of TV and that was my evening.  We went to bed a little later than normal but I still got to sleep in for one more day.

Monday Hubs ended up staying home due to some bad insomnia the night before.  So in an effort to not have to yell at the girls all morning to remember to be quiet, we just left the house.  First on our list was the library.  We got some new books as well as a pack of rapid test kits.  Then to kill some time we went to Value Village and wasted an hour there looking around and finding a few things to come home with us.  The girls have been asking to have their ears pierced for a while so we hit up the mall to get that done.  Only the first store we chose was out of the permission forms so we had to drive to the other mall and get it done there.  Bug went first and the gun misfired so she only has one ear pierced at this time.  We can go back in a week and get that other one done again.  Bear got hers as well and it went well and she is quite happy with them.  Now we just have to remember to clean and twist them a few times a day for 6 weeks.  Once we got home, nothing much happened.  We read and ate supper and then on a recommendation from the school we tested the girls with the rapid tests to make sure they were good to go back.  Thankfully everything was negative and it worked out well.

Tuesday was back to school and work for everyone but me.  I spent the day working though as I have appraisals to do as soon as I'm back to work and need to get them sorted out.  I also want to start the year with less emails in my work box so I'm slowly getting those down as well.  It's back to being super cold here so I'm also driving the kids to school and picking them up.  In the evening I went to the gym and that was my day.  It's been pretty boring and I like it that way.  I get to read and watch my shows and it's all good.

Wednesday was the coldest day of the week so far.  After dropping the kids off at school I came back to the house and did a bit of laundry, some work, and not much else.  After picking the kids up from school I went and had a nap until it was time to make supper.  After supper it was time to take Bug to her first sewing lesson.  She had a good time there and was excited to show the progress she had made and what she had learned.  Her first project is a scarf so she should complete that next week and start on the pillow case.  Hubs and Bear and I then ran to the rink after we dropped her off and picked up some things he had left there.  We grabbed some McD's on the way home, watched some TV and then I went to pick up Bug.  The evening was spent watching some TV and reading a little before bed.
