Week of Holidays

Well hello again, it's been a while!  I just haven't had the time to stick with this and get posts out as work has been bonkers.  I figured since I'm off on vacation this week maybe there would be some free time to make it happen but, no promises :)

Sunday was Father's Day and while there is not a big deal made of it the children gave Hubs his gifts, which he seemed to appreciate, and cards of course.  We then had Bear's First Communion Mass to go to, so that took up most of the morning.  It was lovely and there were about 20 children in this mass.  In total between three mass's on the weekend there were over 50 children who celebrated the Sacrament.  Bear looked lovely and was very happy, even if the dress was Bug's first.  I sometimes feel for Bear as many of the things she wears were worn by her sister first but she never complains.  I think that it helps that we always shop second-hand anyways so it's not a new concept to wear something that was used.  After mass Bug and I went for groceries and our time together.  It was a good outing and we laughed about the upcoming field trip I will be volunteering on.  She had forgotten I was coming and was very excited about it until she remembered.  I know that while it's embarrassing now that Mom comes on these things, in the future she will remember and be happy to have had me there.  Besides this, I like to make them a little uncomfortable, it's good for them.  We then came home and made a special request for spaghetti sauce for Hubs as his meal.  We played a board game after and tossed the ball around the backyard.  After supper, the girls and I went to watch Hubs play hockey for a while.  It's another thing that only happens on special occasions as I can't be bothered to go sit in the rink to watch old men chase each other around.

Monday started off with me thinking I was going to be grumpy as Hubs decided he was also taking the day off.  I book my holidays so I can have time alone and the first day I'm supposed to be enjoying them, he tries to ruin it with that news.  Thankfully we managed to have a nice day together and not have me be snappy at him and wish him away.  We started off the day going to get a new rug for the doorway and then decided that we should go see a movie since we rarely get time to ourselves without the kids.  We ended up seeing \Top Gun: Maverick and it was amazing.  I'd heard only good things about it but you never really know and then it really was good.  I enjoyed it and all the throwbacks to the original immencely.  While we were in the theatre we could hear the rain absolutley pouring down outside.  Turns out there was flash flooding all over the East side of the city.  Thankfully we're on the W|est side and didn't get nearly as much rain.  Nothing much else happened the rest of the day, we ate supper and got the kids to bed and headed there ourselves a little while later.
