Week of June 20

Wednesday was my last day with the outgoing manager for our turnover sessions.  I think we got most of what we needed to be talked about and I'm confident that whatever we missed I have the support of the rest of the team and my new manager to get through.  It will still be a huge adjustment but I'm glad to get into it and get my hands dirty.  I'm not going to lie....I'm also excited to get my own office with a window and be able to decorate and put my name tag up.  I've got a cubicle now but all that stuff will have to find a new home in the office.  It will be nice to have a place to hang a coat or stuff my bag or anything else.  The girls brought all their school stuff home as the last day of school is tomorrow.  It's a sad day as it means they are getting older but they are happy and excited for all the stuff that happens in the month of July.

Thursday was a good day.  Work was not too busy and some things got canceled so it was lighter than it was supposed to be.  In the afternoon, I picked up the girls from school and we did a quick run to the office to grab a surprise bag for the re-go live of the project I'm working in.  It was a cooler bag filled with treats so that was lovely and then we had a little kick-off party to end the day.  We went out for supper to celebrate the last day of school.  It was delicious and everyone was super full by the time we were finished.  Then we came home and there was a virtual magician show that was put on by work, so we watched that and the girls were enthralled.  We did a trick that worked that was crazy and it was great. I thought it was fun and I  know the girls had a good time too.

Friday I had the day off as the first day of holidays for a week.  The main thing we did was clean and rearrange Bear's room.  There was a lot of stuff to move and clean out before we could rearrange things but we got it done and Bear is thrilled with the new layout.  We got rid of a box of stuff and a bag of garbage so that was a good thing.  We also ran out to the dollar store to get a few baskets that we needed to corral some of the things and make a home for them on shelves and such.  We didn't tackle the closet yet but we have more days of holidays to get to that.  We will also do Bug's room sometime in the next week as well.  Beyond that, it was just a warm day where we had a wiener roast for supper as the meal I made failed horribly.  The kids were happy to have that so it ended up being a win.

Week of June 13

Sunday was the beginning of a few days of hot weather again for us here.  After the whole family went to get groceries in morning, everyone besides me jumped in the pool for most of the afternoon.  I was finishing up some laundry and trying desperately to get a few more hours of DVR'd programs off the TV.  Beyond that there was not too much happening at all.  I made supper and was the only one who liked it, so that was a fail.  I've been regularly taking my pills for a week now and things have been good.  I'm mostly stable with my emotions and the apatite suppressant one has been working as well.  I've also begun tracking my calories again with Lose It and managed to be under my allotted for the week, even with a lunch out today.  Half of it is the pills making me not hungry and half of it is the act of having to enter it into the app and not wanting to do that.  I guess whatever works to keep me from stuffing my head.  I managed to lose 2 pounds last week so that is good and a start in the right direction.

Tuesday was a day full of emotions.  My announcement as the new Manager went public and there were many congratulations offered up as well as nice things being said about me.  I got a little choked up a few times hearing those things as I know I'm a good worker but it's not always said out loud and so to hear it a few times over the course of a few hours was powerful.  My new team seems to be happy to have me join them, I heard from the vast majority of them, with only a few outliers, one of which was a surprising lack of communication as I thought that person and I were on good terms.  Even one of the people I beat out for the job was gracious and their congratulations felt sincere.  I haven't done much else for the last few days as it's be very hot here and there were thunderstorms with hail.  They were over very quickly though and the hail was small so no damage at our house.  I watched the first episode of the new season of Top Gear last night and it was very lovely.  I like the current lineup of presenters and I think the BBC has found a group that plays well off each other and doesn't take themselves too seriously, which makes for enjoyable viewing.

Thursday was another day where I went into the office for a few hours so that I could learn and gain some insight into the job I will be going into.  We discussed personnel today and I got to know a little about all the staff that will soon be mine.  After that I was at home and finishing up the day.  I was so tired though that I had to miss a meeting and took a nap instead as I couldn't keep my eyes open.  I'd had a few bad nights with Marshmallow due to the kids coming in and waking her up so I was exhausted.  We also ended up signing up for getting a home security system.  The neighbourhood has been hit with many issues lately so it just seemed prudent.  Hubs wasn't sure but in the end we decided it was for the best and since he doesn't have to be here for any of it, he's fine.  After all that I had my bath and watched a few shows on Netflix.  I was then off to bed and didn't last too long before the sleep came and took me off to dreamland.

Week of 6 June

Sunday was just a normal day for us here.  I made the grocery list and Bear and I went shopping.  We then stopped off at the garden centre and picked up a few flowers for the front of the house.  We didn't get them planted as it started to rain but I'm hopeful that we can get them in tomorrow or the day after.  As part of our normal routine we grab a lunch out, just the two of us that are on the grocery trip.  Bug and Hubs had plans to celebrate the end of swimming lessons so they were heading out for lunch as well and we ended up at the same place.  We all ate together and had a lovely meal that kept us stuffed.  We didn't eat supper until 6, which is very late for us.  About 4pm I ended up with a massive pain in my head.  It came on suddenly and laid me out for almost an hour.  I was actually so worried that I ended up chatting with an RN online to see what was going on.  It was decided that it was probably a migraine but it was definitely in a new spot for any one that I've experienced before.  After taking a few assorted pain killers I felt better but it was a long evening.  I had planned to watch the Juno's but Hubs wanted to watch them as well and he ended up booking a time to talk with his friend that is in the hospital at the same time so I've got them recorded to watch another night.  I ended the night reading some Reader's Digest magazines as I've got a backlog and then off to dreamland.

Monday was back to work for me but a day off for the children.  There was some drama as they did silly things like run into trees with their faces and get kites stuck in trees but overall it was a good day for them.  I had my second interview for the job that I applied for and I think it went okay.  Now it's just a waiting game to see if I got the job or not.  I know there are three other applicants so a one in four chance is not too bad.  We went and got ice cream as a relief that it was over.  Supper was a crockpot meal so there was no prep and I was able to relax and only monitor incoming chats for the last half hour.  Beyond that, we planted out the flowers that we got for the walkway and the girls helped.  Hubs and I finished a biography and then I had a shower and went to bed.  I got the same pain in my head as I was laying there and ended up with a headache all night.  It was not great.

Wednesday was a good day overall.  I was really engaged in work and felt like I got a lot accomplished as well as participating more than I sometimes do in a particular project.  Right at the end of the day, we learned that it seems like something is broken with the system but we don't have that for sure yet.  I also remembered to take my pills and of course, they helped with all the emotions and the eating but I ended up taking them too late in the day and I didn't sleep very well at all.  I know better but I think a little less sleep is not as important as getting the medication back into my system.  In the evening we watched the new show Loki.  I thought it was very good.  I'm a huge Tom Hiddleston fan and Loki is a great character that allows him to play all sorts of emotions as well as being so cheeky.  When he gives that little wink, I think the whole Hiddles Army melts as one.

Friday was supposed to be the day that a decision was made on the job that I applied for but near the end of the day, I received a call letting me know that the decision had been pushed out till probably Tuesday.  While it's nice to know that I'm still in the running, I would just like to have a yes or no at this point so I can decide what my next plans are going to be and stop worrying over what is going to happen.  Beyond that the day was good and I managed to get most of my work done.  In the evening Hubs and I watched a few episodes of Clarkson's Farm on Prime Video and it's so entertaining.  Jeremy is one of my favourite people anyways and seeing him in these situations that are outside of his comfort zones is great.

Week of May 30th

Monday was the start of a warm week.  It was not too hot yet but it was forecast to come.  I didn't have to busy of a day work-wise but I did have an interview for a job I applied for.  It went okay I think, I managed to answer all the questions that were asked of me in an intelligent manner. Now I have to wait to find out if I get another interview or not and continue with the process.  I should know something by Wednesday or Thursday of this week to that effect.  Not too much else happened.  At bedtime, Bear had a really bad headache but we were able to get it under control with some Tylenol and a cold pack.  I got to bed not too much later and had a good night's sleep with only one interruption from Marshmallow.

Tuesday was a warm day!  I decided that since it was so lovely out that I would take myself outside and work from there.  I got my setup all ready and parked myself under the umbrella and really enjoyed myself.  I even waded in the pool a little but it was freezing!  I don't know how the kids handle it.  What I forgot from last year though, is that while the umbrella provides shade, it doesn't stop the rays and I have a sunburn despite not actually being in any sun for the whole day.  Oops.  Bear helped me make supper and we had a nice time being together while Hubs and Bug were at swimming lessons.  It was the last one of the sessions so we get to have our Tuesdays back to ourselves for now.  I'm sure something else will come up though.  In the evening we watched Mare of Easttown and it's not for me.  It's just so depressing!  By expressing that to Hubs led to a fight though so I went to bed quite upset.

Wednesday was even warmer than Tuesday.  I spent very little time outside but we did go grab an ice cream after supper.  The workday was good, I didn't feel too overwhelmed at all and I did get through some emails.  It's still not making a huge dent in them though as they keep on coming.  One of the ones that came through was a good one though.  I've been booked for my second interview for the job I applied for.  I'm hoping it will go well and I'll brush up on the core competencies for the job because there will be questions on them for sure at this point.  I had another nausea episode after supper.  They seem to come in clusters of about a week then they stop for a long time before starting again.  I'm still averaging 3 a month though.  Beyond that, there was nothing too exciting that happened so I guess it was a good day.

Friday was a very boring day.  Work was okay, there was nothing exciting that happened and it was just a regular day.  There were meetings all day but none of them were crazy.  I was quite tired all day though and as soon as Hubs came home and I had reheated the pizza from the day before for the kids, \i went for a nap.  I managed to sleep until the kid's bedtime.  The rest of the evening I watched TV by myself as Hubs mowed the lawn, then went for a float in the pool.  It was much too cold for me to join him so I took myself off to bed.
