Tuesday and Back to Work

Well it's back to work after my vacation days and it's going to be a stupid busy week.  I've got personnel issues at work to deal with, crazy appointments scheduled, and my companies big show this weekend to set up at and attend.

So far I'm booked from 9am till 430pm with no breaks unless something ends early.  I'm not sure when I'll be able to get up to pee but maybe I just don't drink and it won't be a problem :)

Then it's a quick supper and out the door for Bear's cheer practice.  That runs for an hour and a half and then back home where I need to get some studying done for my class.  I managed to get a fair bit done last week while off but still need to keep up with the timelines.

I also slept horribly and will probably crash at an earlier time tonight, though I have managed to get some reading in every night for the last little while and I'd like to keep that streak.  It's my learning reading that I do before bed and it's all the non-fiction where I'm trying to better myself so it's got value, instead of just escapism.

I think that's my day so I'll sign off and talk soon.

It's a Busy Weekend

Well as it's Saturday we have the regular things on the go.  First up is hitting up the library for our new books for the week as well as returning what we read or didn't read the past week.  Then Hubs is taking the girls to Spirit Halloween for a look around and maybe a purchase or two.  Following that we are doing Thanksgiving today so we're busy making stuffing and getting the bird in the oven.  Plus all the other sides that go with it need to be prepped and cooked and get ready to eat.

Sunday Bug has bowling as normal, the long weekends don't matter for that.  Then she was off to a friends for a sleepover.  Hubs had hockey in the evening so Bear and I had a movie night.  We watched the Jumanji reboot and while I think I've seen it a few times, it's still funny and good and maybe not entirely appropriate for a young girl, it's not words that she hasn't heard before.

Monday is going to involve picking Bug up from her sleepover and me getting my pills from the pharmacy, which should be open I think.  Then there is not too much else happening.  Hubs is going to sleep in from being up till all hours last night after hockey.  Bear and I may clean a bit of her closet as that needs doing, and it's just a relaxing day off.

Tuesday of my Holidays

It's day two of my holidays and I haven't done much.  With not being able to drive, I'm stuck at home and just end up doing my studying early so I don't have to take the time in the evenings.  I also nap and watch some TV that I've recorded that I'm months behind on.

We have a few things to do tonight, Bear has cheer and we have to go exchange the Halloween costume we bought yesterday for a size larger as she thinks it's too small.  Bug also has to pick a costume, but I think she's decided what she wants to be so that makes it easier.

Not too much to write about today so I think I'll go have my nap and see what else the day brings.

It's My Birthday

Well it's my birthday and so far it's been just a normal day.  I was up very early due to kids and cats.  Then I was off with Hubs to the doctor as he'd taken a puck off the inside of his ankle and it was swollen and possibly broken.  After some x-rays it was determined it's just a sprain with swelling so he's to keep off it and ice it often.

We were then off to the library as it's our normal day.  Picked up a few books for all of us and then off to 7-Eleven for some Slurpees.  Then back home and now the girls are playing a Switch game and doing laundry.

Later today we will get some Chinese ordered in and just watch the Rider game, while hoping for the best.

The Day of Rest This Week

Today is the one day this week where there is not something going on after work and I'm grateful.  It's been a very tiring and long week already and there is still tomorrow to go.

Yesterday we had the City Championship Cross-Country races for the girls.  Neither one really wanted to do cross-country but Hubs and I feel that it's good for them to experience many things and so they grudgingly did it and while neither of them were anywhere near the top, we are proud of them for sticking though with it and giving their best.  Bug especially as she was the only kid from her school in her age group that went out for Cross-country and was in the race.  To stand out from your peers and friends and do the thing no one else is doing was really tough and I'm glad we shared with her how proud we were of her.

In other fun news I've purchased a smart watch that has the ability to send my Hubs a message if I fall.  I hope to never use it but at least it's an option if it happens while I'm alone.  Beyond the fall ability, it has all the regular smart watch functions so it's been a learning curve.  It's fun to play with though.

Have a great day!

What's Been Happening

So over the last few months things have not been great.  I've recently been diagnosed with Epilepsy and to say it was a shock would be an understatement.

I had my first seizure in May and scared the crap out of the family.  I then went through some testing and conversations with a neurologist and got the diagnosis based on the seizure and the episodes of deja vu that I have been getting for a few years being considered as focal temporal seizures as well.  I've been put an a medication, that I'm slowly ramping up the dosage on, as apparently one of the side effects of taking to much too quick is a fatal rash.  I'm not sure how rashes can be fatal but I'm also not willing to find out so slow and steady we go.  I was thinking things were going in the right direction but alas I had another seizure in September and this one didn't happen when I was already laying down so injury came with it.  I was also home alone with the second one and was found later laying on the floor, foaming at the mouth, and no recollections of how that happened at all.  I must have hit the ground very hard though as I got a bump on the head that is still sore over a week later, a bruised shoulder and arm, and a probably cracked collarbone.

The sad part is that my total medical response from the neurologist after the second seizure was to have her receptionist call me and say just keep taking the pills.  I realize that they are very busy and the patient to doctor load is very high but it's like they forget that this isn't my everyday like it is theirs and I'm concerned and scared and would like to actually speak to someone, especially when they were the ones who said if there is another episode call me.

Going forward I'm just trying to figure out if I have any clues when one is going to happen and to continue to no be able to drive for more months as you have to be seizure free, for good reason.
