Week of 31st October

Sunday was Halloween and it was a good day.  I started the day as regular and got the grocery list all made out.  Bear and I went for groceries and we also got her a pair of winter boots so that's one less thing to worry about before the snow falls.  We then grabbed some lunch and headed home.  The girls and I had been in costume since the morning so we were all ready to go for anything that came up.  Hubs was watching his football game and then we were off to a friends house for a quick visit.  That time was good and it was nice to catch up.  We then came home, had a quick taco supper and were out the door for some trick or treating.  We have a nice loop that we go on and it takes us about an hour and a half to get around it and all the way home.  Works out well and we don't have to do too much back and forth.  Hubs had hockey last night so we had a few minutes between him leaving and us getting home but I don't think we missed too many kids.  We only got 26 in total and some of my coworkers ran out of candy after 250 so it must just be our area that has no one out.  Both girls got a tonne of candy and will be eating it for weeks.  I'm happy with the left overs and the extra I bought just in case we had a crazy year.

I thought I'd play along with some answers for once and not have to think too hard to come up with things to write.

1. Is Halloween a big deal in your neighborhood? Was it something you celebrated as a child? With your own children? Do you like candy corn?

It's not such a big deal on our little street but there is lots going on once you cross the road to the other streets.  I always celebrated (and still do), it's great to be something else for a little while.  My children love Halloween and get their costumes chosen early and wear them in the preceding weeks.  I do like candy corn but only in small does and only since I've become an adult.  I hated it as a child.

2. Are you a scaredy cat? About what?

I'm not too afraid of things but I don't like spiders or bugs really.  Too many legs creep me out.

3. Last time you were somewhere that should have been busy but felt like a 'ghost town'?

I think most stores during the beginning of COVID were like that.  It was difficult to get used to but now it's not bog deal.

4. Do you like chili and if so how do you like it? Beans or no beans? Meat or no meat? Beef or chicken? Spice or no spice? Favorite toppings?

I do like chili and would prefer only brown beans in it, not ay other kind.  It has to have beef though or it's not chili.  I like a little heat to it but not burn your mouth crazy hot.  I top mine with sour cream and shredded cheese.

5. Would you describe yourself as a night owl? What time of night qualifies? What are you doing while everyone else is asleep? Do you then 'sleep in'? Define 'sleeping in'.

I am not a night owl, I'm in bed and asleep by 10:30 almost always.  I get to sleep in on the weekends when the girls let me so I get to snooze till 9 or so.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Work has been crazy  this last week and I'm thinking I'm getting there myself.

Wednesday I again had a busy day.  There are so many projects on the go and meetings to attend and my emails are right out of control and I'm just spinning it seems.  Beyond all the work issues and keeping things calm on the surface, I also had a dentist appointment.  It went well, my teeth were not too bad and while I've got to go back for a filling it's not the end of the world.  I do need a crown though and that had to be preauthorized so I'll see what the insurance company says about that in a few weeks.  It was another day of not getting to the gym.  Hubs went to wash the car which meant by the time he got home it was too late.  I just wish I could control my eating more.  I know I'm doing it out of boredom instead of hunger and it's frustrating that I'm not going to lose much weight if I keep eating as I do.  I need to get everything under control and I'm just not there in any part of my life right now so I feel like I'm drowning.

Friday I was in the office for most of the day.  I had to have a computer switch out and there were a few other tasks that required me to actually be in there so that was good.  Hubs had a half day off so we were able to go for lunch and that was nice.  It's been a while since we got to have those kind of day dates and just hang out with each other.  In the evening we had swimming lessons and while I'm happy for the girls to be in them, I could use the time to read or do emails or anything else.  Hubs had hockey and I spent the night on my normal task of trying to get my emails under control from the week. I was unsuccessful in that and gave up with just under 200 in my inbox.
